SP#02 - Storm

15th Jan 2012
It was SO SO hard to get the form and the colours of the clouds right. Daym, I don't know how those Vis Dev artists do it. After a bit of basic round brush strokes I had to use a textured brush to give it a bit of clarity. It looked a bit too incomplete and too abstract. 37 minutes just flew doing this one.
Was hoping to keep it under 30 minutes tho!

Sketchbook stream!

14th April 2013

Madhu walking
Madhu and eggs on the bike

Sketched everywhere I went, starting with the RTO. We went to get my sister (Raina's) license.

That's her getting her photo clicked and then waiting for processing.

My desperate attempt to draw vehicles better while waiting for a friend to reach.

At the beach, watching women sell balloons and slingshots.

Fat lady at café Canapé.
My dad and grandmother

Practice. Patience. Don't sketch hands for months, you go back by skill in 4 years.

Drew John Snow after reading GoT book 1.

This was supposed to be 'Ghost' from GoT, it ended up looking like Balto/Disney dog

An iron mason at work, although I couldn't capture it that well.

Went with Raina to the parlour.

A view of Margao muncipal garden. :) Was really happy with this one. Mum and sis were really impatient, so I finished it in 2 minutes.

I loved this roof. Although it does look shitty here.

End of stream!

Mt. Abu sketches

I had a wonderful time at Mt. Abu, at Tapan's place. It was really a well-lit diwali! We went to his school, to Nakki lake, Bikaner Palace, Trevor's Tank, Gurushikhar, Dilwara Jain Temple, Gaumuk and Shiv Temple. We went to the tibetan market and shopped on the last day! There was crowd everywhere, mostly Gujjus.

Luckily I got to sketch at some of the places we visited. Here is some of the stuff outta my sketchbook.

Here's a comic strip I came up with with Dwaj - Tapan's younger cousin in std. 8. He loves Osama - he's obsessed with drawing him. There were a lot of cows in Abu and we had just come back from Chitrakatha '11 - COWfest.. So I made the trip's theme - Osama VS. Cow! Here's the truth.

The last few drawings are for a shortfilm concept I'm working on about a girl who travels and visits her friends over the country and is made to eat by all the moms and aunties.

Badass Babe - Archeress

This is my entry for the latest sketchoholic contest: Badass Babes. Hope I get atleast a few votes. :-s
I took over 7 hours to do this over 3 days, hopefully I'll get fastr at it. I learnt a lot about digital painting, took a lot of reference. Here's some advice:

1.Always ink it to get a clearn picture of the sketch.
2.Put a tinted bg colour so that the paint can be seen well.
3.Always add tones to make sure the lighting is the way you visualized it.
4. Organize, rename and store your layers in folders to avoid confusion. Lock the ones you don't wanna paint over.

And then start painting!

Here's a really good tutorial for digital painting by Reiq.

3pt sketch

First I make a BAD 3 point perspective sketch of the college entrance..
And then I render it in a medium I TOTALLY suck at - dry pastels. Well. Eventually I didn't hate this so much, so here it is.

The Greedy Pencil

This blog is a collection of (some of) my work, the art I do for fun, my inspirations and the sweat that goes into making animated films. Enjoy!
