SP#02 - Storm
15th Jan 2012
It was SO SO hard to get the form and the colours of the clouds right. Daym, I don't know how those Vis Dev artists do it. After a bit of basic round brush strokes I had to use a textured brush to give it a bit of clarity. It looked a bit too incomplete and too abstract. 37 minutes just flew doing this one.
Was hoping to keep it under 30 minutes tho!

Mikki Ekko Study
20th Nov 2014
Haven't done a speedpainting in really long! Felt totally out of touch. :( Anywho, this is Mikki Ekko from the 'Stay' music video by Rihanna ft Mikki Ekko. I loved this frame, the balance, cam movt, lighting was just gorgeous. Crossed the clock by 30 minutes. :(!
Critiques greatly appreciated!!

Total time taken: 1 hour 30 mins

Puppy Speedpainting
14th April 2014
I am feeling increasingly depressed, waiting for my studio results. I just really hope I get in my dream studios! Meanwhile, I am combatting apathy. I got myself to do a speedpainting after FORever. Here's tonights. Hope this continues!
I really wish I'd finish on the 30 minute mark, but this took 60 minutes to be exact.
Seeing the thumbnail I just realise how wrong the colours are, and how squishy-squashy puppy's face looks. I took this because I loved the lighting and all the bounce light and the balance of cold n warm colors, but I tend to see colours brighter than they are. Hopefully I'll improve with time.

Hilltop
21st March 2014
So this was done sometime near 27th Feb. Went on a trek with a friend, and it was so refreshing to see something other than the city. We climbled a small mountain and the weather was gloomy, and it rained, and the view was amazing. I guess once in a while it's something we really need from our lives - distance. It just puts a lot of things into perspective.
Cheers, and enjoy. :)

Day 34 - Speedpainting of my house corner
23rd Dec 2013
Another study. I clicked the snap today coz there was a lot happening there in terms of lighting. I tried the setting the values right first and then adding colors of the same value/tone. It kind of worked out but I didn't use the exact same values while converting to color.
B/W Colored Original
Speedpainting under 60 mins
Points awarded: 100
Yay!!
Also here's a VERY helpful link on values and color studies from this VERY helpful blog called Muddy colors. I found it very useful and thought-provoking to how see things as artists. Shared by Alok the awesome.

Day 33 - Fashion Illustration #01
23rd Dec 2013
So yeah one of the things most people don't know about me is that I love fashion, and I love people who can really drape themselves up. I decided to do this for fun, took bout 3-4 hours. Wish I had a better sense of color. I tried exploring with some forms and colors and textures, but the textures didn't go as much. Cheers!

Day 32 - Kate Beckett 'Speedpaint'
21st Dec '13
Only 10 days till new years and I still have to make a lot of resolutions! I finally got my ass to paint 'speedpainting' of kate beckett from Castle! I love her character, and I tried really hard to get the likeness right. It looked kinda okay until the sketch stage but then it just went haywire during the painting.
Also I tried really hard to do it under 30 mins, but the first 15 mins went into the setup and the sketch, and then it even exceeded 1 hr. :(

Day 31 - Proko Bean Torso
30 Nov 2013
Proko: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0660Fuih7qo
Gesture drawing tool: http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/
Spent some 40 minutes practicing the bean after watching Stan Proko's lesson on simplifying the torso using the bean! It makes so much sense, and I really needed to get this right. My basics feel so weak right now! :'( But I'm getting a really good idea of how the torso twists, leans, turns and forshortens. Proko's videos are absolutely great!

Day 29 - Spiderman characters
30th Oct 2012
Did some spiderman sketches today while watching the movie. Feeling very rusted! Also feel the need to experiment much more with the traditional medium, pencils etc. Anyway, this is what I came up with. Also adding some sketches of my wonderful friends, Darren, Sid and Aakash, who're starting a new Untitled series, shot my me. ;) Fun stuff.

Day 28 - Horse and Donkey Gestures
26th Oct 2012
I haven't practiced animal gestures as much as human. Atnovus (the firm I'm worked for) has assigned a story for me which is going to involve a LOT of animal drawing - not my biggest strength, but it's a lot of fun for me. So I tried practicing for the donkey character. Thought horse sketches might help too since they have more movement.

Day 27 - Horrible rusty gestures
24th Oct 2012
So I haven't been doing my gestures for more than 3 months or something, and this is the result. Disastrous fugly out of balance gestures! Although I don't like these I wanted to post them anyway, because this is my state, and here's where I'm gonna go from. Everyone has these days coming once a while!

Day 26 - Speedpainting #06 - Alisha's seesaw
20th October 2012
Did one after really long! This is a photo of my friend Alisha and her friend in her garden. I wanted to learn how to capture daylight's effect on grass - it's almost florescent! Even the light on the skin is high in saturation, and the contrast of the unlit bg has pale tinted shades.

Day 25 - The Hunger Games fanart
22nd August 2012
I don't know if this movie is underated or not, but I absolutely loved every second of it. I loved the story, the look, the feel, the concept, the costumes, and especially the characters, who are so well rounded! I have been browsing some beautiful fanart and I was wishing there were merchandise being sold here. People always tell me to grow up and out of fiction, but I never will. Landmark had a HUGE sale and I HAD to buy the books after watching the movies. I am so excited to start reading.
Anywho, this post is a speedpainting of Katniss Everdeen, moments before being sent into the arena when she's in the tube, looking back at Cinna. This one took about 40 minutes. I wish my face study would be stronger!

Another quicky gesture. I loved the post and the confidence in the expression.
Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor. ;)

Day 24 - Her eyes
6th August 2012
I'm getting a lot of visuals listening to some wonderful songs these days. Sometimes I get very emotional and I draw everything I feel, even though I don't fully understand it. I feel the way someone's eyes look tells you everything about them.
We're living in a den of thieves
