Second GIF

22nd April 2014

So I decided to take my previous GIF a step further and animate my awesome friend Ram. Check him out dancing. I haven't animated over a year or something so please forgive this nonsense.

I'm still happy with it. *grin*

Party tiiiiiiime! Feel that energy!
For those who can't stand the blinding colour!

First GIF

21st April 2014

Yes, as the title reads, this is my first GIF, and don't mind, it's pretty lame. I just wanted to see how they do it, and I managed this shabby work. It's actually a caricatured painting of my good friend Ram. It's more like a process GIF actually. I wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to draw Ram. Step by step. ;)

Shiftin' Shade Cover art!

15th April 2014

So this is a project I took up for a friend who is an awesome musician. He has recently started Electro-Jazz. His name is Darren Pareira, a.k.a Shiftin' Shade. You can follow him and his upbeat fresh music HERE. I made a cover art for him which may/may not appear on his first Vinyl Album. Here is the entire process with the final results. ;) Enjoy.
Initial explorations that I showed Darren

The final painted artwork. I just went blank when it came to the background, but then I thought I'd leave it that way.

Tried out some filters. I actually liked the last one a lot, Darren even tried an ACID filter which I've tried really hard to find but failed.

The Mailbox update!

5th Nov '13

So far my film 'The Mailbox' has been selected and screened at Chitrakatha '13 and it was a wonderful experience! I guess it's my first screening outside my comfort zone (MIT) and after it got over, it got a lot of cheering and hoots from the crowd, which I presume was mainly MITians. I saw all the flaws all over again. Something about the projector or the burned copy made it look much more florescent and saturated than I'd like. :( It was quite disappointing honestly, and after seeing all the other wonderful shorts from different countries, I felt my film had no place to be there.

That night I didn't ask anyone about anything. I shook a few friendly hands, and that was that. The next day I showed it to a really awesome faculty and friend there, Priyankar Gupta. I got some really good criticism and feedback from him and Dawameren Imchen (faculty) who was on the selection committee there. I recently I sent it to Prosenjit sir and Vaibhav sir, and they gave me some good inputs as well, so I hate it less now. ;)

After that I soon sent it to Asifa India, and it's been shortlisted for screening there as well! So I've decided to invest in a festival run. I did make a lot of mistakes with this film, and it's definitely not my best, but it's the first and it should get a viewing at least for the 1.5 years of blood and sweat that I poured into it.

I hope you guys get to see it asap! I'm really eager to hear all your criticism and feedback, but I cannot put it online during the festival run. Here're some screenshots and two posters.

My first 5x5

19th Oct 2012

Since I can't upload my confidential studio work, I am sharing this short video I made with you. I'm pretty happy with it!

This video was made for the 5x5 vignettes group, where you have to make a film with 5 hots, each of 5 seconds duration. This is my first film, and so, obviously, I wasn't thoughtful enough about choosing my shots, but I basically wanted to film night time ferry at panaji/betim, Goa.
I had more shots than I needed and so they all weren't of 5 seconds, so I had to cut some and wished some were longer. Also, I had MAJOR focus issues since I'm capturing video after really long! :-s Won't make those mistakes in the next one.

5x8 - rough cut of Panaji-betim ferry from Nikhita Prabhudesai on Vimeo.

This one is a 5x8, that's 8 shots of 5 seconds each. And here's the final edited submission.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think! This is a great learning and confident boosting exercise for young film-makers.

The Greedy Pencil

This blog is a collection of (some of) my work, the art I do for fun, my inspirations and the sweat that goes into making animated films. Enjoy!
