Kill Bill Study Boards #1

13th June 2016

Study boards from Kill Bill Volume I - the first chapter. Learnt so much about cutting and anticipation in this scene! It's still not complete. I intend to go on a full film study board mission, as suggested by Emma Coats (Story artist). She has some incredibly challenging but useful story assignments on her blog - http://storyshots.tumblr.com/

Thanks to Tanveer Singh for the nomination! Better late than never no?

Happy New Year 2015!

11th Jan 2015

And a very happy new year to all!! I've been having the best of everything. Work is balanced with play so far - been travelling so much whenever a project ends! There's been a huge mixed variety of work we've been doing so far. Hopefully this year we'll kickstart with some great animation projects!

I finished my Professional Storyboarding Course with CGMA Academy and working on some commercial as well as personal work! Unfortunately everything we've got is still confidential until release, so will only be able to share that later. I only hope I manange to squeeze in time for personal work and fitness now! And then I'd have nothing to complain about. ;)

Happy New Year 2015 everyone! Hope to share something concrete soon! Until next update, enjoy this quick storytelling panel I did for fun.

Summer heat

20th May 2014

For a while I was really beginning to doubt myself when it comes to boarding. Just did a quickie based on my friend Shubi's facebook status. It's actually super hot everywhere in India, but I got the power of AC! Lemme know if it conveys properly. Criticism is most welcome.
Cheers and happy monsoons! (Yes, the first showers have cooled off my Goan land)

Storyboard Quickies

4th Nov 2013

Wish I'd spend more time on my boards. This one's about Akshay's homophobia. More episodes to come on NashikTimes.

This next one is when I was hopping off trains to make it to Ahmedabad in one piece, trying to continuously call Alok with low battery.  I think it could become a Vodafone advert. -__-

One of the Goodbyes

14th April 2012

Sometimes the funniest people seem the strongest, but sometimes they too have their quiet moments when noone can see. It seems almost out of character to see the funny people sad, because they're never so. ;)

Kingfisher spotted

13 Dec 2012

I really wish I could board faster. I can't believe I spent approx. 5 hours on this. :| Boards should be quick! Anyway, I decided I had to do this and leave all other work aside. Lose inhibition and tell a story I want to tell!

My friend Krithika and I had just come back from watching Hotel Transylvania (I went with really low expectations) which was really good in terms of animation and the amazing visuals, compositions and editing! It had a good first half with the introduction of the major characters, but on the downside, it had a super flawed and unrealistic storyline (even for an animated movie)! Anyway, on the way back to the insti, we caught a glimpse of something turquoise!
So here goes.

It was pretty much the end, until

Download Speed

25th September 2012

Lately the college has royally reduced the download speed for sadistic reasons. The buffer speed of an average youtube video has gone to 20 minutes for a 5 minute video. Vicky, my dear friend is often frustrated by this, so instead of the browsing he has switched to downloading, which WAS faster. Until now. They got a step ahead of us. The evil data centre has once again made our life miserable by reducing the download speed as well!

Us kutte ne download speed kum kardi hai; That dog's reduced the download speed also!

Day 25 - Football in years!

17th August 2012

For the 2nd time in my life I played football yesterday! The last time I played was when I was in the green house team in Std. 10. It was okay, we won, and I played decent. It's 6 years later and my friends forced me to come play coz they didn't qualify to play in the leagues if they didn't have a girl on the team. So I got to play 4 pretty good matches, and I got better with each match.  But overall I was pathetic. I was trying very hard not to touch the ball. I'm so used to playing sports which involve the hands. I play everything from basketball, table tennis, badminton athletics to frisbee, but football? Today my body is broken down. When friends back home see a photo of me playing they think I kicked ass or something! After the matches were done this is a actually how I felt.

Oh well. Atleast I had the balls to embarrass myself for friends. AND I completely enjoyed myself.

Day 22 - Interview guys

31st July 2012

Man it's been really long since I boarded something and my boarding skills have rusted so badly. :( Also halfway through I realized either u make a comic or a board, you can't have both. I introduced callout boxes like an idiot. I need to practice. In college I've given two interviews already. A very common question in a work interview is 'What are your strengths and weaknesses? This is the response we would really say if we were allowed to be honest.

Ctrl+Z

26th May 2012

So this is what happened today. Since I've gone all digital my hands are ALWAYS, and I mean - ALWAYS on the keyboard. So when I picked up the pencil and sketched out Francis (my character), this is what happened.

I was intensely drawing, totally into it.

Damn his nose went wrong again!

I tried stomping on the keys Ctrl+Alt+Z, but nothing seemed to happen!

And suddenly, the magic eraser appeared!

So much for going digital.

The Greedy Pencil

This blog is a collection of (some of) my work, the art I do for fun, my inspirations and the sweat that goes into making animated films. Enjoy!
