Day 29 - Spiderman characters

30th Oct 2012

Did some spiderman sketches today while watching the movie. Feeling very rusted! Also feel the need to experiment much more with the traditional medium, pencils etc. Anyway, this is what I came up with. Also adding some sketches of my wonderful friends, Darren, Sid and Aakash, who're starting a new Untitled series, shot my me. ;) Fun stuff.

Willie Real's inspiringly beautiful art!

29th Feb 2012

My fellow animator friend Rhutu told me about Will Real. I'm so grateful for finding his work today! This is the most wonderful discovery!! His work has beautiful clean raw lines, depth, character, personality, color, shape, variation, composition, all the good stuff stuffed into one piece! Absolutely mindblowing, speechless and fantastic work, that I had to share with u guys.

Also, if you like his work and are very inspired by it (like I am) you can read his interview HERE.

Here are some of my favorite pieces just to entice you into scanning his ENTIRE blog. Gaah!! <3 p="p">

Day 28 - Horse and Donkey Gestures

26th Oct 2012

I haven't practiced animal gestures as much as human. Atnovus (the firm I'm worked for) has assigned a story for me which is going to involve a LOT of animal drawing - not my biggest strength, but it's a lot of fun for me. So I tried practicing for the donkey character. Thought horse sketches might help too since they have more movement.

Day 27 - Horrible rusty gestures

24th Oct 2012

So I haven't been doing my gestures for more than 3 months or something, and this is the result. Disastrous fugly out of balance gestures! Although I don't like these I wanted to post them anyway, because this is my state, and here's where I'm gonna go from. Everyone has these days coming once a while!

Day 26 - Speedpainting #06 - Alisha's seesaw

20th October 2012

Did one after really long! This is a photo of my friend Alisha and her friend in her garden. I wanted to learn how to capture daylight's effect on grass - it's almost florescent! Even the light on the skin is high in saturation, and the contrast of the unlit bg has pale tinted shades.

Duration: 1 hour

Feedback and criticism needed on this one and will be greatly appreciated!

My first 5x5

19th Oct 2012

Since I can't upload my confidential studio work, I am sharing this short video I made with you. I'm pretty happy with it!

This video was made for the 5x5 vignettes group, where you have to make a film with 5 hots, each of 5 seconds duration. This is my first film, and so, obviously, I wasn't thoughtful enough about choosing my shots, but I basically wanted to film night time ferry at panaji/betim, Goa.
I had more shots than I needed and so they all weren't of 5 seconds, so I had to cut some and wished some were longer. Also, I had MAJOR focus issues since I'm capturing video after really long! :-s Won't make those mistakes in the next one.

5x8 - rough cut of Panaji-betim ferry from Nikhita Prabhudesai on Vimeo.

This one is a 5x8, that's 8 shots of 5 seconds each. And here's the final edited submission.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think! This is a great learning and confident boosting exercise for young film-makers.

Second Internship!

6th October 2012

Hello blog and its readers, if any! It's been a really long time! I haven't been posting any work lately because I'm so busy working on 2 confidential projects and my Colloquium (pre-graduation thesis paper)! I wish I could post the stuff here but I'm allowed to only when the product is ready. It's an app for children's book stories to be told via the tablet and the digital medium. Learning a lot about translating  story. I'm so used to telling stuff as if it's a film, I'm now trying hard to break from that.

The people I'm working for is a firm called Atnovus Design. It's a Switzerland based firm, so I get to work with people from another beautiful country, and that's another fun part, besides the fact that they are really nice people.

The Mailbox, my graduation film has been on a hold since I am losing it trying to handle so many things at a time. I am longing a year-long holiday now! I wish life was longer and every lasted over 24 hours!

On the sidelines I'm going crazy over The Hunger Games. After the movie came out I was obsessed with it, and I bought the books. I am now on Mockingjay - book 3, and I strongly suggest all you fiction-sci fi lovers to just grab a copy of your own.

That's all for now. Watchout for my regular inspirational animated/live action films.

Okay now bye. :|

The Greedy Pencil

This blog is a collection of (some of) my work, the art I do for fun, my inspirations and the sweat that goes into making animated films. Enjoy!
