Mumma's birthday card

30th March 2013

I don't generally do cards anymore. I wish I did though. So I decided it's hightime for a birthday card. Here's my Mom's card that I made in literally 5 minutes.

Quick and rough emergency concept done before 12am for Mum's birthday card.

The final birthday card! I'm pretty happy with it.

Sketchbook stream!

Madhu walking
Madhu and eggs on the bike

Sketched everywhere I went, starting with the RTO. We went to get my sister (Raina's) license.

That's her getting her photo clicked and then waiting for processing.

My desperate attempt to draw vehicles better while waiting for a friend to reach.

At the beach, watching women sell balloons and slingshots.

Fat lady at café Canapé.
My dad and grandmother

Practice. Patience. Don't sketch hands for months, you go back by skill in 4 years.

Drew John Snow after reading GoT book 1.

This was supposed to be 'Ghost' from GoT, it ended up looking like Balto/Disney dog

An iron mason at work, although I couldn't capture it that well.

Went with Raina to the parlour.

A view of Margao muncipal garden. :) Was really happy with this one. Mum and sis were really impatient, so I finished it in 2 minutes.

I loved this roof. Although it does look shitty here.

End of stream!

Hyojin Bae

Went through some awesome work today from Hyojin Bae. She's a korean student studying at Calarts (one of the best animation universities in the states). Her work is as good as any professionals. I went through pages of it, and it wasn't enough. 2 hours on her wonderful tumblr blog, and I kept thinking - how does one get so good? What Alok said was so right. Her work had some great understanding of anatomy, gesture and expression, but what was standing out was the pure emotion in it - the imagination, the craziness, and the beauty in the world perceived from her eyes.

I can only hope to stay true to myself, and work on my skills just so that I can draw my mind instead of speaking it. I don't think good work will ever stop existing as long as there are wonderful people. Cheers to Hyojin Bae!

Here's some of her wonderful work:

"In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau’s famous motto: Anyone can cook. But I realize that only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere." - Anton Ego, Ratatouille.

One of the Goodbyes

14th April 2012

Sometimes the funniest people seem the strongest, but sometimes they too have their quiet moments when noone can see. It seems almost out of character to see the funny people sad, because they're never so. ;)

Old work and commencement of PJH plans

10th April 2013

I haven't updated this for sooo long! Finally, I have convocated! (yet to make a comic out of that day)
I feel all gyaani and professional now, although still somewhat naive and a student, still.

I'm posting some old work for starters. It's been too long since I've posted so I'll just start with this!

Here's some Paranorman fanart and a sketch of Ellen Page I'd done long ago that didn't end up lookin anything like her! Enjoy!

The Greedy Pencil

This blog is a collection of (some of) my work, the art I do for fun, my inspirations and the sweat that goes into making animated films. Enjoy!
